I like to take a problem solving approach to my graphic design practice. And while looking ‘good’ is important that’s definitely not the end of the story. To be considered successful, a design concept needs to fit the client’s brief. Ideally that means it will also be functional, user friendly and communicate effectively with the desired audience. If we can tick all those boxes then we have a solution.
The need to fit the client’s brief seems obvious right?
Sometimes establishing that all important brief is the most challenging part of the design process. An initial consultation that includes careful questioning and active listening is the key to establishing the criteria and guidelines for a successful collaboration between designer and client.
Collaboration is my preferred approach to any client project I undertake. It’s a great feeling when both client and designer are really invested in a project and there’s mutual respect for each others knowledge, talents and skills. In this scenario everyone brings their best efforts and ideas to the table ensuring a successful result.
